What kinds of player packages could the Phoenix Suns receive for Kevin Durant?

The San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets, and Oklahoma City Thunder are three possible suitors for KD.

Here’s another idea: the Detroit Pistons.

(Keep in mind that we are just discussing which player packages would work financially for Durant here, with no thought of what kind of draft capital Phoenix could also land as part of the package.)

4. Durant to the Pistons

Phoenix receives…

  • Tobias Harris (expiring)
  • Isaiah Stewart
  • Ausar Thompson

Thompson’s sky-high potential as a two-way wing with elite athleticism and defensive instincts makes this an undoubtedly compelling package for the 36-year-old KD.

Stewart’s grit and rebounding would bolster Phoenix’s frontcourt toughness alongside Harris’s veteran scoring.

Detroit would face a tough decision here. Pairing Durant with Cade Cunningham could form a dynamic duo capable of contending for the Eastern Conference crown next season, but Durant’s age and injury history pose significant risks. If KD stays healthy, the Pistons could surge; if not, losing Thompson—a potential star—could haunt them for years.

Phoenix would consider capitalizing on Detroit’s gamble, gaining a high-upside prospect in Thompson and two solid starters. The Pistons would have to weigh whether Durant’s immediate impact justifies sacrificing long-term potential in a deal that could either elevate or derail their already-successful rebuild.

But where else could Durant land? Find out below.
