Charles Schwab Challenge 2025 betting tips and predictions: Best bets to win, top props, odds and more image

One of the premier staples of the PGA Tour season, the 2025 Charles Schwab Challenge tees off this week. The Sporting News has you covered with the outright odds as well as the best bets and the top props for the annual tournament at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.

Of the non-majors, no PGA tournament has been held at the same venue for as long as the Schwab. First held at Colonial a whopping 79 years ago, the invitational tournament honours history and tradition in myriad ways. Each champion dons a Scottish tartan plaid jacket, much like the famed green jacket tradition at the Masters. Colonial also boasts a Wall of Champions on the first tee, engraved with the name and score of every champ dating back to 1946.

Which name will be engraved on the Wall of Champions after this weekend? Odds-on favourite Scottie Scheffler sure seems like a good bet — he just conquered Quail Hollow to win his third major championship at the PGA last weekend. However, the Texas native has some under-the-radar competition going into the Schwab, and plenty of betting options exist outside of the world No. 1.

Let's have a look at the Charles Schwab Challenge betting odds, then make our predictions. We'll detail the best bet, top value bet, and our favourite sleeper bet to win it all, then wrap things up with the best bet to finish in the top 20.

Charles Schwab 2025 best bet to win

Scottie Scheffler (9/4)

It's hard to wrap one's head around betting a winner at such short odds, but let's be frank: Scheffler found his groove last week at the PGA Championship. Even when he hit the ball poorly off the tee, his short game and putting was so extraordinary that it didn't matter. And we all know how lethal the world No. 1 can be when he gets this hot.

Need a refresher from last year? After he won the 2024 Arnold Palmer, he proceeded to win the PLAYERS, finish second at the Houston Open, win the Masters, win the RBC Heritage, finish T8 at the PGA (despite being arrested mid-tournament), tie for second at the Schwab and then win the Memorial. He finished the year with seven wins — eight if you count his Olympic gold medal.

Long story short, Scheffler's still the best in the world — and he doesn't have Rory McIlroy, Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm or Collin Morikawa to contend with this week. The native Texan has played Colonial Country Club countless times — he grew up in Dallas, about 30 minutes away from the famed Fort Worth course — and he should once again be the man to beat this weekend.

Daniel Berger to win (22/1) or to place top 10 (9/4)

With Scheffler looming over this weekend's field like a hulking beast, the odds for every other competitor get a bit of a boost. Berger, who glides under the radar despite once peaking at No. 12 on the OWGR, won this tournament over Collin Morikawa after prevailing in a dramatic one-hole playoff back in 2020.

Berger has somewhat quietly enjoyed a strong past few months. He finished T2 at the Phoenix Open in early February, then 12th at the Genesis. He finished 15th at the Arnold Palmer, T3 at the RBC Heritage, and T11 at the Truist Championship two weeks ago. He placed a mere T33 at the PGA last week, but that was his worst finish since January.

Berger does a lot of things really well, and his game fits the Colonial CC perfectly. He's strong and accurate off the tee, he's elite on approach and scrambling, and he eats par-4s for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Seriously, check out his stats — he ranks sixth on TOUR in par-4 scoring, and Colonial happens to have 12 par-4 holes. Take Berger 20/1 to win or 2/1 to place in the top 10.

Charles Schwab 2025 top sleeper bet

Davis Riley (40/1)

Riley won this tournament last year at -14, holding off superstar runners-up Scheffler and Keegan Bradley. That showed the Mississippian's guts, and he did the same last weekend when he rallied to finish T2 at the PGA Championship. A defending champion entering the tournament in his best form of the season and getting 40/1 odds? Sure, sign us up!

In addition to the runner-up at the PGA, Riley has a sixth at the Puerto Rico Open, a seventh at the Valspar, and a T21 at the Masters. It hasn't been all sunshine and daisies since his win at the Schwab last year, but he certainly seems to be trending up over the past couple months.

The epic finish at the PGA was certainly Riley's season highlight, and it should give him strong momentum entering his Thursday tee time. The 28-year-old played the final 11 holes at Quail Hollow to a bogey-free 3-under, triumphantly trekking the Green Mile to tie Bryson DeChambeau and Harris English for second and a $1.4 million payout. Run it back, Riley!

Charles Schwab 2025 best bet to place top 20

Harry Hall (5/2)

Hall has been playing phenomenal golf over his past two starts, gaining over seven strokes against the field. His around-the-green and putting skills make him a solid par-4 contender in this relatively shallow field, especially coming off a top-20 finish at the PGA Championship last weekend. Hall finished in the top three at the 2023 Schwab, and we like him to at least finish in the top 20. If you like long-shot odds, you can also bet him at 66/1 to win it all.
