The future is already extremely bright for the San Antonio Spurs. They have the most exciting young player in the league in Victor Wembanyama, and things don’t stop there. The Spurs also recently traded for star point guard De’Aaron Fox. On top of that, their 2024-25 lottery pick, Stephon Castle, just won rookie of the year. Still, with all that positivity in the air, that doesn’t mean that Spurs trade rumors aren’t floating around.
Having young stars like Wembanyama and Fox can make a team want to push on the accelerator. That is exactly why Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report named the Spurs as one of the top-most realistic trade destinations for Giannis Antetokounmpo.
A Spurs-Giannis trade makes a ton of sense. The Spurs instantly vault themselves into championship contender status, while the Bucks can land a ton of draft assets to move into a Giannis-less future.
Just imagine a team with both Giannis and Wembanyama dominating on both sides of the ball. The entire league would shake in their boots.
The Bucks could also come out of this Giannis-Spurs trade looking pretty good.
The Spurs luckily landed the number two overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. Everyone is expecting Dylan Harper to be drafted in that position, a tantalizing young talent the Bucks would probably love to build around.

On top of that, the Spurs have even more to offer. They have some young players like Devin Vassell and Jeremy Sochan who have both shown they can contribute to winning basketball.
That being said, a Giannis-Spurs trade would be all about the draft picks. The Spurs would likely have to give up a boatload of first-round draft capital to get the Bucks interested.
They should consider doing just that. Pairing Giannis with Fox and Wembanyama could be the homerun move that sky-rockets the Spurs back to their championship-winning ways.
