During the NFL Playoffs, the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Green Bay Packers 22-10 in the Wild Card round. Packers quarterback Jordan Love threw three interceptions with zero touchdowns in the loss, and Eagles QB Jalen Hurts had two passing scores as Philadelphia began its quest for a Super Bowl victory.
Fast forward to May, and the Packers submitted a proposal to the NFL to ban the Eagles' famous "Tush Push" play. On Wednesday, the ruling came in, and NFL owners ruled in favor of keeping the "Tush Push" play legal.
But here's some irony: The final ruling was 22-10 in favor of keeping it, which is the exact score of the Eagles-Pacers playoff game in January.
"In last season’s wild-card round, the Eagles beat the Packers 22-10. And as @EpKap points out, 22-10 also was the tally on today’s tush push vote," Adam Schefter wrote.
After the ruling was revealed, the Eagles roasted the Packers with a photo of the two teams playing each other and the words "Push on" at the top. The Eagles also posted a 26-minute YouTube video full of "Tush Push" plays minutes after the news was announced, so they were ready on all fronts.
In order to get rid of it, 24 votes (75%) were needed from the NFL owners. To make things worse for Green Bay, the exact vote reminds them of the playoff loss to that same Eagles team.
What a world.
