Panthers cut ties with franchise legend's son after mysterious injury image

The Carolina Panthers had the chance to continue the legacy of one of their franchise legends.

Instead, an injury has ended that pursuit early.

After last month's NFL Draft, the Panthers signed Muhsin Muhammad III as an undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M.

"Moose" is the son of the franchise's second-leading receiver of the same name. Pops ranks second in Carolina history in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.

Moose III is also a wide receiver. In total in his college career, he grabbed 81 passes for 1,163 yards and 12 TDs for the Aggies.

The Panthers waived Muhammad III on Tuesday with an injured designation. It wasn't made clear what the injury is.

The waive/injury rules will allow Carolina to place Moose III on their Injured Reserve if no one claims him off waivers.

Carolina has a full boat of receivers for Bryce Young to throw to, including first-rounder Tetairoa McMillan along with Adam Thielen, Jalen Coker, Xavier Legette and David Moore.

For now, at least, the depth chart won't include the next Moose.
