Sophie Cunningham injury status revealed for Fever-Dream rematch image

The Indiana Fever began the 2025 WNBA season with a blowout win over Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky on Saturday. However, the Fever lost to the Atlanta Dream, 91-90, on Tuesday night.

The Fever and Dream face off again on Thursday, and the status of Sophie Cunningham has been up in the air as she awaits her Fever debut.

But, Cunningham is unlikely to play on Thursday, either as Chloe Peterson reported

Sophie Cunningham is listed as OUT for Indiana's game at Atlanta tomorrow. Steph White said of her status today: “Obviously, we have to go through today with no setbacks, but I’m hopeful that she’ll be able to be in uniform."

Shortly after, the Fever gave another update and listed Cunningham as questionable, per Peterson.

"An update: The Fever have amended their injury report to list Sophie Cunningham as QUESTIONABLE for tomorrow at Atlanta."

White had said those comments prior to practice, and now it seems there is still a chance she can play despite the first report having her listed as out.

Cunningham was questionable for Tuesday's game before being ruled out.

Cunningham twisted her ankle during a preseason game against the Dream, and the offseason trade acquisition from the Phoenix Mercury is getting closer to returning to the floor.

The Fever will next play on Saturday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse against the New York Liberty, and if everything goes well, Cunningham should be likely to play in that one.

After that, the Fever play on Wednesday against the Washington Mystics, so it would be surprising not to see Cunningham make her debut sometime within the next seven days.
