Lewis Hamilton has unfollowed everyone on Instagram, including Ferrari and his beloved vegan bulldog, Roscoe. So, what’s behind the social media purge?

It may have something to do with the fact that the Formula 1 icon’s much-hyped move to Ferrari for the 2025 season has been anything but smooth. From difficulty adapting to the SF-25’s unpredictable handling to simmering tension within the team, his transition has proven far more turbulent than expected.

On Instagram, where Hamilton boasts 39.5 million followers, he had already kept his following list extremely limited — reportedly following fewer than ten accounts, with some sources citing just six. Now, it’s zero.

But the seven-time world champion is still posting to the site. Just yesterday, Hamilton shared a photo of his younger self, captioning it simply, "the kid."

Interestingly, over on X (formerly Twitter), where he has 8.5 million followers, Hamilton still follows 231 accounts (including Roscoe). It's a sharp contrast that raises questions about whether his Instagram reset is a personal statement or simply a strategic shift.

According to Forbes, following zero people on Instagram can be a “brilliant” move, with celebrities like Adele, Beyonce and Oprah who have massive followings, adhering to this “follow nobody rule” as a way to ensure they “create rather than consume.”

While Hamilton hasn’t explained the reason behind his latest social media wipe, which comes just ahead of his next race at the 2025 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Italy — it wouldn’t be the first time he’s gone dark online.

After his controversial 2021 title loss to Max Verstappen in Abu Dhabi, Firstpost reported the seven-time world champion vanished from Instagram for months.
