The New Zealand Warriors are in the midst of an impressive season, currently sitting second on the NRL ladder with an 8-2 record.
As they look to continue this run, the team will soon pull on a specially-designed jersey, created by a former player and current fashion heavyweight.
But what is the 'Dear Warrior' jersey, and when will the team wear the custom-made threads?
What is the 'Dear Warrior' jersey?
The 'Dear Warrior' jersey is an upcoming uniform set to be worn by the New Zealand Warriors, designed by former player Lewi Brown.
Brown, who played for the team between 2009 and 2012, is the founder and current Creative Director for Sydney fashion brand Earls Collection, and was invited back by his former team to design the jersey.
"When the club approached me last year to be a part of this project, I’m not going to lie, it felt surreal and still does a little bit," Brown said.
"To be given the creative licence by both the club and Dynasty Sport to express myself and my journey through this garment, it’s a dream come true.
"Dear Warrior isn’t just about me and my journey, it’s about how everyone’s journey to this club is different, and that’s players, staff, members and fans.
"I can’t think of another organisation who has had a former player, currently working in the fashion industry, come back to design a playing strip. I’m super proud of the Warriors and Dynasty for having the guts to go down this path – and I just hope I’ve repaid that faith."
According to an Instagram post by Brown and the Warriors, the name 'Dear Warrior' references the welcome letter that he received when he became an innaugural member of the club in 1994, while the colour scheme links to Brown's homeland of the Chatham Islands, and the iconic black robin which survived near-extinction - a spirit of perseverance he hopes can inspire the club.
The jerseys will be debuted by the team in Round 12, when they wear it as they host the Canberra Raiders on Sunday, May 25.
Fans seem to have taken to the design, with both the jersey and associated warm-up shirt selling out near-instantly on the team's site.
