Two of the National League's best hitters lead their clubs into battle on "Friday Night Baseball," with the Nationals hosting the Cardinals.

James Wood — part of Washington's return haul for Juan Soto in 2022 — has a .937 OPS and a team-high 10 home runs. The 22-year-old outfielder looks like a legitimate franchise centerpiece, as Washington looks to build a contending team.

In St. Louis, Brendan Donovan is one of the main reasons why the Cardinals are sporting a .500 record. The second baseman is hitting .331, one of the best marks in the league, with an .853 OPS.

Friday's pitching matchup will feature the Nationals' Mitchell Parker against veteran Erick Fedde. Parker will look to recapture his early season form and shake off back-to-back poor starts.
