The Washington Commanders made the postseason in the first season with head coach Dan Quinn and quarterback Jayden Daniels. The Heisman Trophy winner wasted no time getting acclimated to the NFL, and he wound up winning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year despite Caleb Williams being drafted No. 1 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.
The excitement is back around the Commanders' organization, and the play of Daniels is a large reason why. He finished with 3,568 yards, 25 touchdowns and nine interceptions while adding another 891 yards and six scores via the ground.
The Commanders made a thrilling run to the NFC title game before losing to the eventual Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, and this was only Year One with Daniels at the QB position.
With young QBs such as Brock Purdy signing a new extension, it is worth seeing what Daniels might command when Washington is ready to extend him.
Well, Greg Bagnon of Bleacher Report dropped a strong prediction for Daniels: five years, $310 million with $250 million guaranteed in the 2027 offseason.
"We then have to leap to the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year, who is two years behind Purdy and one behind Stroud but on the same track following a historically awesome and memorable debut campaign as a No. 2 overall pick," wrote Bagnon. "It’s possible Daniels will experience a sophomore slump like Stroud, but even if that were to happen, he’d have room to bounce back and earn a mega contract following Year 3—just as Purdy, Burrow, Lawrence, Herbert and Hurts did and Stroud likely will."
Bagnon admits it's tough to predict that far put, but Daniels has shown tons of promise in just one season.
