C.J. Stroud's got next.
Specifically, Stroud looks to be the next NFL quarterback who will get a gigantic second contract after completing his rookie deal, after the 49ers and Brock Purdy agreed to a $53 million per year deal on Friday.
Stroud and the Houston Texans are eligible to agree on an extension as soon as the 2025 regular season is over.
Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio predicts Stroud to exceed the $55 million a year logjam of QBs that are behind Dak Prescott and Josh Allen in the salary rankings.
"Remember, the cap keeps going up," Florio writes. "That means the market should keep going up, too."

The rest of Stroud's draft class is lagging a bit behind. Bryce Young and Anthony Richardson still have a lot to prove.
Stroud, 23, has a 19-13 record in two seasons as Houston's starter after being taken No. 2 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Ohio State.
Stroud has a career 43-17 touchdown to interception ratio. He has completed 63.5 percent of his passes.
The Texans should remain the favorite to win the AFC South for years to come, in large part because of Stroud.
That should earn him the big bucks soon enough.
