Premier League playoff qualification rules
Before we dive into the playoff scenarios, let's take a look at how a player qualifies for the play-off:
- 8 players are selected to be in the Premier League
- Top four places advance to the play-off
- The table is based on a points system:
- +2 pts - quarter-final win, +1 pt - semi-final win, +2 pts - final win (max of 5 pts in a night (winner))
After Night 14:
NW | MW | L | +/- | Legs Won | LWAT | Pts | |
Luke Littler | 5 | 23 | 9 | +45 | 175 | 64 | 38 |
Luke Humphries | 3 | 19 | 11 | +18 | 153 | 59 | 31 |
Gerwyn Price | 3 | 13 | 11 | +10 | 117 | 46 | 24 |
Michael van Gerwen | 0 | 11 | 13 | -10 | 112 | 45 | 20 |
Nathan Aspinall | 1 | 11 | 13 | -7 | 108 | 44 | 19 |

Premier League Darts playoff scenarios
After week 14, Luke Littler, Luke Humphries, and Gerwyn Price have all mathematically clinched a spot at The O2. Despite securing spots, there are still opportunities for movement in the table amongst these players in the final two nights.

Both Michael van Gerwen and Nathan Aspinall lost their quarter-final matches on night 14, while Gerwyn Price picked up two big points in a come-from-behind quarter-final win to clinch a play-off spot.
With night 15 ahead, the game of the night is van Gerwen vs Aspinall with what is on the line for both players.
Even with Littler and Humphries, the top two players in the order of merit, facing off in a quarter-final bout, the close race for fourth place in the seeding at the moment is too significant to ignore.
One of Aspinall or van Gerwen is going to go home empty next week with zero points, so whoever wins will likely have the better chance of making the play-off.
The matches on the last night before the play-off always are decided after the second to last night: first vs. eighth, second vs. seventh, third vs. sixth, and fourth vs. fifth.
This means we could see van Gerwen and Aspinall face off in back-to-back weeks in the quarter-final round, giving each player the ability to control their own destiny and not have to worry about other variables going in their favor.
The big storyline at the moment is between van Gerwen and Aspinall, but Rob Cross could very well insert himself back into the conversation if he can beat Chris Dobey.

Luke Littler
- Playoff status: Qualified
Night 15 will be a clash between Littler and Humphries, first and second place currently in the table. A win for Littler would allow him to clinch first place in the table, and he'd likely face Stephen Bunting or Chris Dobey on night 16. A loss would make things interesting, as Humphries would still be in the running for first depending on the results that night and the following week, but either way, Littler can't drop further than second place.
Luke Humphries
- Playoff status: Qualified
Humphries needs to beat Littler on night 15 to have a shot at first place. He would then need to make the finals the next two weeks and win at least one of the next two nights.
Gerwyn Price
- Playoff status: Qualified
Price can still fluctuate around the table, with the potential of finishing as high as second and as low as fourth. Price plays a struggling Stephen Bunting in the quarter-final on night 15. He should look to get points right away in an attempt to steal second while also defending himself from van Gerwen who could go on a run these last couple of weeks.
Michael van Gerwen & Nathan Aspinall
- Playoff status: Not yet qualified
Van Gerwen hasn't qualified for the play-off yet but has the chance to give himself some breathing room with a win over Aspinall. A night win for MVG in Aberdeen would mathematically make it impossible for Aspinall to overcome. If MVG fails to win against Aspinall, he could be in a tough position if he faces Aspinall again the next week as he'll have the opportunity to make a run of his own on night 16.
Rob Cross & Chris Dobey
- Playoff status: Not yet qualified
The loser of this match will be eliminated from top-four contention. For Dobey to have any chance at qualifying, he would need to win both nights while also having other results go his way. Cross has slightly more flexibility with a two-point lead but will need to combat MVG and The Asp with as many points as he can gather.
Stephen Bunting
- Playoff status: Eliminated
It was a rough return to Premier League Darts for Stephen Bunting as he was officially eliminated from play-off contention. We know he's capable of much more after being a World Championship semi-finalist in 2025, but struggled too much in the opening two months which dug him a hole he couldn't get out of.
