Report suggests struggling teams may swap future Hall-of-Famers in this Suns trade rumor image

The Phoenix Suns didn’t have the season they were hoping for. After creating the Big 3 of Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal, and Devin Booker, they haven’t really won anything. What was supposed to be a championship contender wasn’t even able to make the Play-In Tournament this season. So, it’s no wonder Suns’ trade rumors are starting to swirl.

One Suns’ trade that many are expecting to see this summer is for the team to find a new home for their aging superstar, Kevin Durant. The Suns looked into trading Durant during the season, but weren’t able to get a deal done.

Now Durant and the Suns are reportedly working together to find a trade partner that can satisfy both teams’ future needs.

A possible trade route for the Suns was addressed in ESPN’s 2025 NBA mock draft. Jonathan Givony reported that with the 3rd pick in the draft, the Philadelphia 76ers could package it along with a struggling star and likely future Hall-of-Famer to land Durant.

"Some teams expect the Sixers to be active in trade conversations, with names such as Kevin Durant (Phoenix) and Lauri Markkanen (Utah Jazz) as potential targets in packages that could include Paul George and the No. 3 pick." ESPN's Givony and Jeremy Woo wrote Monday.

This trade has the possibility of being a win/win for each team. For the Suns, one could argue that you are swapping similarly skilled players (when healthy) while also recouping a huge draft asset, something the Suns severely lack.

For the Sixers, they are able to get a more reliable superstar in Durant to pair with Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid. They also would get off the enormous George contract.

Keep an eye on both Durant and the Sixers’ 3rd overall pick this offseason because one or both of them could be part of a big trade this offseason.
