Former UConn star Paige Bueckers gets major personal news before rookie year image

After completing an impressive run with the UConn Huskies, Paige Bueckers was drafted by the Dallas Wings with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft. It was a move that could change everything about the future for a franchise that badly needed help.

Bueckers, who led UConn to a national championship under Geno Auriemma last season, is closing in on her WNBA regular season debut. That game will occur on May 16 at 7:30 p.m. ET against the Minnesota Lynx.

Prior to beginning her rookie season, Bueckers has made a major personal move. She has been putting together an impressive career off the court, as well as on it.

According to Grant Afseth of Dallas Hoops Journal, Bueckers has become the first-ever athlete creative director for DoorDash.

"Dallas Wings star Paige Bueckers is now DoorDash’s first-ever athlete Creative Director," Afseth wrote. "A special merchandise drop with Playa Society will be released on May 16 to tip off the WNBA season."

Following the news, Bueckers released a statement about the new partnership she has made.

“DoorDash has been a fixture throughout my college years, and as a pro, it’s been no different—I even ordered my late-night post-draft meal on DoorDash,” Bueckers said. “I was so excited when the opportunity presented itself to partner with DoorDash and serve as a Creative Director for the upcoming 2025–2026 WNBA season and I can’t wait for everyone to see the tee I worked on to celebrate the start of the W season.”

She was also asked about what her first DoorDash order was. Bueckers revealed what she remembers from that order.

“My first DoorDash order, that’s a good question,” she said. “I think it was a taco spot, and the tacos were great, of course.”

Heading into her rookie season, Bueckers continues to win at life. She will now look to lead the Wings back to success and live up to the hype that is surrounding her to begin her WNBA career.
