What kinds of player packages could the Phoenix Suns receive for Kevin Durant?
Durant to the San Antonio Spurs is one possibility.
Here’s another idea: the Houston Rockets.
(Keep in mind that we are just discussing which player packages would work financially for Durant here, with no thought of what kind of draft capital Phoenix could also land as part of the package.)

2. Durant to the Rockets
Phoenix receives
- Jalen Green
- Jabari Smith Jr. (expiring)
- Tari Eason (expiring)
Both Smith Jr. and Eason have team options for 2025-26.
While this Rockets young trio is enticing, Green’s poor fit in Phoenix would make this deal a near-impossible sell.
Smith Jr., a versatile forward with elite defensive potential and a developing three-point shot, could thrive alongside Devin Booker. Eason, a high-energy wing/big, brings tenacity and rebounding, addressing Phoenix’s frontcourt issues.
However, Green’s inclusion in the deal makes no sense for the Suns. His ball-dominant, inefficient scoring style couldn’t be a worse fit alongside Booker.
The Suns would likely push to swap out Green for a different asset.
If Houston didn’t budge, Phoenix would explore other teams offering better-fitting stars or assets for Durant.
