Mariners fans make coolest gesture after Oswaldo Cabrera’s scary injury image

The New York Yankees' Monday night win over the Seattle Mariners was overshadowed by the gruesome injury to Oswaldo Cabrera. After scoring a run in the top of the ninth inning, Cabrera writhed in pain and proceeded to be taken off the field via an ambulance in a scary sight in Seattle.

Cabrera was placed on the 10-day IL with a left ankle fracture, which is not good news for either side. On Wednesday, another update surfaced that he is seeing doctors and weighing options to see what happens moving forward.

But in a cool gesture, some Mariners fans have been donating to a charity in Cabrera's honor. The gesture began with a question on what charity Cabrera is a part of, with one fan replying with a suggestion.

Since then, they have followed suit.

Here's a little bit about the Covenant House per the website: "Covenant House is the largest, primarily privately funded charity in North and Central America providing immediate and long-term support for young people facing homelessness and survivors of trafficking."

After the injury, the Mariners posted a tribute to Cabrera, so it's been a full-on show of support in Seattle.

It remains to be seen exactly how much has been donated to the Covenant House in Cabrera's honor, but the donations appear to be picking up, with fans asking how to help.

So cool.
