The Indiana Fever have the best women's basketball guard on the planet.
But down a point with about 10 seconds left on Tuesday night, all they had Caitlin Clark do was throw the ball inbounds, and two missed shots resulted in a loss.
To be fair to Clark, her pass was precise, and Natasha Howard couldn't convert on two decent opportunities.
Here's the play, and then we'll break it down a bit further:
Fever had the lead, by Rhyne Howard's FTs were the difference. Natasha Howard got two looks at it with under 10secs left.

They aren't going undefeated this season; lose to Dream 91-90.

It's not unreasonable to have Clark throw the ball in. She's as pinpoint and gifted a passer as they come.
Fever coach Stephanie White told reporters the Fever wanted to get the ball to Aliyah Boston coming to the near block. When that was covered, Clark went over the top.
Indiana had a timeout the whole time. After the offensive rebound, maybe it would've been best to use that and draw up a play for Clark.
Even in the first place, it might've made more sense to get the ball to Clark at the top of the key and let her attack. There, her shot-pass double threat makes life that much harder than just one player you know is going to shoot.
The Fever fell to 1-1 with the 91-90 defeat to Atlanta. And they certainly didn't run their best possible final play in a crucial moment.
