Preakness Stakes payout breakdown: How much prize money will the winner get in 2025? image

The second leg of the Triple Crown, the Preakness Stakes, is a spectacle all its own. While it might not carry quite the significance of its sibling, the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness is equally venerable; three-year old colts have been trotting atop Pimlico for 150 years.

The competition features a fair few differences from the other two jewels of the Triple Crown, to be fair. It's shorter, contested over just 1 3/16 miles. It's also nor quite as profitable for race winners, at least when compared to the Race for the Roses.

Nevertheless, the event remains a notable one it the world of horse-racing. And although the Triple Crown won't be on the line in this iteration of the event, the result of the competition will linger long in the ledgers which house the names of those to claim gold in The Run for the Black-Eyed Susans.
