The Panthers are making moves in their wide receiver room, waiving Moose Muhammad III and signing T.J. Luther in what really is a re-signing, since Carolina released Luther last week.
The interesting part about Luther’s up-and-down NFL career is that there isn’t much video of it, except for a video from Alan Saunders back in 2024, in which T.J. gets wide open, and Justin Fields does what he does best and misses him.
Luther took the blame for this, but clearly, from the video, you can tell it’s overthrown.
Luther is a shifty wide out. Chemistry between he and Bryce Young could go a long way in producing surprising stats from the former FCS star at Wofford and Gardner-Webb.
The Panthers are taking an old page out of Andy Reid’s book of winning strategies and going for lots of speed.
Jimmy Horn Jr is extremely fast, Xavier Legette is speedy in his own right on the outside, and McMillan’s 40-yard dash time doesn’t reflect his speed on the field when you watch him play.
Now, with OTAs starting next week, if Luther can make some plays and continue to grow into the preseason, he could get some very good looks and playing time during the preseason.
And even potentially make the 53-man roster.
