The Baltimore Ravens set themselves up to have a strong safety room for the 2025 season. With Kyle Hamilton under contract for two more years, the Ravens re-signed Ar'Darius Washington and then used their first-round pick on Georgia's Malaki Starks.
However, things took a turn last week when Washington tore his Achilles tendon, ending his season before it even started. The 25-year-old played 64.2% of Baltimore's defensive snaps in 2024 after playing no more than 9.7% in any of his first three seasons.
Now, it looks like Hamilton and Starks will be the two starters in the back end for the Ravens, but if they want to use three safeties, there are still veteran options for the team to consider in free agency.
Interestingly, Last Word on Sports' Anthony Palacios recently identified the Ravens as a team that could make sense as a landing spot for free-agent safety Jamal Adams.
"The veteran safety doesn’t need to play all of the snaps, but enough to help and make an impact in certain situations," Palacios wrote. "Kyle Hamilton is turning into one of the best safeties in the league, and even with being that, he can’t be god to lead this unit. Adams could bring temporary life to help the Ravens push for a possible Super Bowl finally."
Adams, 29, spent three years at LSU from 2014-16, earning All-SEC honors twice and All-American honors once with the Tigers before the New York Jets took him in the first round (No. 6 overall) of the 2025 NFL draft.

He was a Pro Bowler and All-Pro in second and third seasons with the Jets before New York sent him to the Seattle Seahawks for a haul that included two first-round picks.
Adams earned Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors again in 2020, landing him a four-year, $72 million deal to start the next year. However, his 2021 and 2022 seasons ended with injuries, and he wasn't the same player when he returned in 2023.
After the Seahawks released Adams in 2024, he signed with the Tennessee Titans. He appeared in just three games before asking for his release and signing with the Detroit Lions practice squad.
In total, Adams appeared in five games in 2024, playing just 40 defensive snaps, and finishing the year with seven tackles.
It's unlikely that Adams returns to the player he was before tearing his quadricep in 2022, but he could still end up being a helpful role player in Baltimore in 2025, if they called his name.
