Cam Ward has quietly said who he feels most comfortable with coming out and speaking after the Tennessee Titans' rookie minicamp.
Surprise, surprise. It’s his former Miami Hurricanes receiver with whom he produced 11 touchdowns in 2024: Xavier Restrepo.
"It is me more opening up to my new teammates," Ward said per ESPN. "Them getting a chance to know me. I already know X [former Miami and current Titans teammate Xavier Restrepo] and have a connection with him. I got to connect pieces with my other guys."
That little bit of verbiage speaks volumes about who will get the majority of the targets in Ward’s era in Tennessee. At least in year one.
Ward and Restrepo already have a history together. They broke records together at Miami.
Xavier Restrepo may start, but some think he might not make the team
The Titans did not draft Restrepo. They signed him after the draft.
Some analysts believe he may not even make the team after the team drafted Elic Ayomanor, Gunnar Helm, Chimere Dike, and signed Tyler Lockett during the offseason.
Gunnar Helm is listed as a TE, so he’s out of the equation, and Dike's selection was one of the most confusing picks in the entirety of the Titans’ 2025 Draft. So maybe not.
The chemistry between Ward and Restrepo will be fundamental in making Ward the touted franchise quarterback he’s supposed to be. Coming out of the slot and getting reps agains’t players like L’Jarius Sneed, Amani Hooker and Roger McCreary at practice is tantamount to his success at getting to NFL ready.
Cam’s words are a good sign of good things to come for the duo.
